    What is Taekwon-Do?

The fundamentals and objectives of Taekwondo

Taekwon-Do is an international Martial art known for its dynamic flying and spinning kicks. Taekwondo comes from the korean words Tae(foot), Kwon(fist), Do(way).

The fundamentals of Taekwondo are learned through a series of patterns of moves, free sparring, self-defence techniques, and two-person controlled sparring.

The objective of training Taekwondo is to seek the enhancement of personal character by strengthening both mind and body, to develop self-control and endurance through hard training, and finally to acquire the tolerance and modesty that a truly strong person can show when he or she reaches an extraordinary level of Taekwondo mastery.

Taekwondo is an effective modern system of self-defence and became an official sport at Sydney Olympic 2000.
